Objectives

  • To learn and understand the biology of cancer.
  • To learn and understand the principles of treating cancer.
  • To learn and understand the proper conduction and interpretation of clinical research.
  • To participate in the education of other physicians, staff, and support personnel by preparing and presenting didactic lectures on topics in Hematology/Medical Oncology.
  • To understand the psycho-social issues involved in the care of cancer patients and to display compassion for patients and family members. 

Eligibility

  • MBBS
  • Proficient in English
  • A trainee in an oncology unit or a practicing oncologist 

Training Plan

  • Participate in daily ward rounds and clinical work.
  • Participate in the management of patients in the out-patient setting.
  • Learn professional attitudes and behaviours in interacting and communicating with referring physicians.
  • Participate in the conduct of clinical trials.
  • Participate in clinical research work such as prospective or retrospective studies.
  • Attend the various tumor boards during their rotation.
  • Special programmes and additional training can be arranged for training to meet their specific goals.

Advancing Expertise in Gastrointestinal Cancer Care and Research

The National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS) invites applications for its Gastrointestinal (GI) Oncology Fellowship, a one-year paid clinical and research fellowship designed for motivated oncologists seeking advanced training in the management of GI malignancies.

Fellows will work alongside leading specialists across the Upper GI, Hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB), Neuroendocrine, and Lower GI oncology sub-teams, as well as the Phase I clinical trials team. This immersive experience provides broad exposure to the spectrum of GI cancers, from early-phase therapeutics and precision oncology to multidisciplinary patient care.

The programme offers:
