During your clinic visit to the National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS), you may be required to undergo blood tests as part of your diagnostic or treatment process.
Here’s what you can expect when going for blood tests:
Preparation for Blood Tests: Before your appointment, your healthcare team will inform you if any specific preparations are needed, such as fasting or avoiding certain medications. Please follow these instructions to ensure accurate test results.
Check-in at Level 10: If you are scheduled for a blood test before your consultation or treatment, proceed to Level 10 to check-in for your appointment at the self-service station. You are required to register and make payment before blood tests are done.
If you need to do blood investigations before your consultation, you may choose to do it:
Understanding the Procedure: A trained phlebotomist will explain the blood draw procedure to you. They will ensure that you are comfortable and answer any questions you may have about the process.
Post-Procedure Care: After the blood draw, you may be asked to apply pressure to the site to minimise any bleeding. It’s advisable to keep the bandage on for a short period and avoid strenuous activities with that arm for the rest of the day.
Waiting for Results: The blood samples will be sent to the laboratory for analysis. Depending on the tests ordered, results may be available within a few hours to a few days. Your healthcare team will discuss the results with you during your follow-up appointment.
Support and Comfort: If you have any concerns about the blood test or experience anxiety about needles, please communicate this to the staff. We are here to support you and ensure that your experience is as comfortable as possible.
At NCCS, we prioritise your health and well-being. Our team is dedicated to providing you with comprehensive care, and we are here to assist you throughout your clinic visit, including during your blood tests.
