Dr Gideon Ooi obtained his medical degree from National University of Singapore in 2010 and his specialist qualifications in Diagnostic Radiology from the Royal College of Radiologists and National University of Singapore in 2017. He completed further specialist training in Nuclear Medicine in 2020 to become among a handful of dually-accredited Diagnostic Radiologist and Nuclear Medicine Physician.
In 2023, Dr Ooi received the prestigious National Medical Research Council Research Training Fellowship (NMRC RTF) award to be among few nationally-selected Innovation Fellows in the Singapore Biodesign Programme that aims to nurture the next generation of medtech innovators for Singapore and Asia. During the fellowship, he underwent clinical immersion at Beijing Tsinghua Changgung Hospital in China, and received training at Stanford Byers Center for Biodesign at Stanford University and at Fogarty Innovation Institute in California, USA. He and his team filed for two provisional patents during the fellowship.
In 2025, Dr Ooi has been appointed Chairman of the Chapter of Nuclear Medicine in the College of Radiologist, Academy of Medicine Singapore.
Dr Ooi also has research interests in oncologic imaging, theranostics as well as medical artificial intelligence. He is a Core Faculty member of the Nuclear Medicine Senior Residency Programme and Clinical Assistant Professor with Duke-NUS Medical School.
He also serves as an executive committee member of Singapore Radiological Society.
