The Division of Surgery & Surgical Oncology aims to provide a seamless, comprehensive suite of cancer and non-cancer surgical services for all our patients on SGH Campus. Many non-cancer conditions such as trauma, hernias and others require surgical intervention. Almost all tumours also require surgical expertise to obtain tissues for diagnosis, and surgical resection is the first line treatment for nearly all solid tumours. The Division adopts a wide approach to surgical measures for cancer and the surgical faculty are key members of multidisciplinary teams that sub-serve all tumour types. The Division champions multidisciplinary care through close collaboration amongst surgeons, physicians, nurses and allied health professionals to ensure that our patients benefit from holistic care.
We have more than 130 experienced surgeons delivering care through 13 distinct subspecialties: Breast Surgery, Colorectal Surgery, General Surgery, Head and Neck Surgery, Hepato-pancreato-biliary and Transplant Surgery, Neurosurgery, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Otorhinolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery, Upper Gastrointestinal and Bariatric Surgery, Urology, Sarcoma, Peritoneal and Rare Tumours (SPRinT) and Vascular Surgery.
The full suite of surgical sub-specialties enables us to deliver state of the art multi-disciplinary care for our patients. The Division is also the regional hub for surgical education and research.
