Video Consultation with NCCS

National Cancer Centre Singapore is offering the option of remotely attending your medical appointments for selected services. You will be connected to a member of the clinical care team via a secure video conferencing platform called Zoom that is accessible through internet-enabled devices such as your smartphone, tablet or computer.

These virtual appointments enable patients to receive ongoing care when in-person clinic consultations are not necessary or possible. You will receive the same level of patient care and medical attention from our healthcare providers.

Why Video Consultation?

  1. Allow your doctors to continue caring for you
  2. Gives you more time to rest at home
  3. Reduces your or your caregiver’s absence from work
  4. Saves time and money from travelling to and from NCCS
  5. No more waiting at the clinic and pharmacy
  6. Reduce exposure to infections while commuting and at NCCS

Before the Video Consultation

  • Ensure that you have an internet-enabled smartphone, tablet or computer with camera for video consultation.
  • You will receive an SMS with a link seeking your consent to having video consultation.
  • Download the Zoom application prior to the consultation
  • You will also receive an email containing your appointment and video consultation details.

During the Video Consultation

  • Ensure that you have a stable internet connection and follow the instructions sent to you earlier to join the video consultation.
  • Choose a well-lit and quiet area for video consultation and have your identification card with you.
  • Your identity will be confirmed using two patient identifiers (i.e., your name and NRIC) before proceeding.
  • Our healthcare providers will be online to review and discuss your condition with you and your caregiver. The following activities may be conducted depending on your consultation type:
    - Assessment of medical history, relevant medical conditions, level of self-care and overall well-being;
    - Review of relevant tests and investigations, including but not limited to blood tests and radiology investigations;
    - Review of existing medications, prescription of medications;
    - Ordering necessary investigations; and/or
    - Addressing any concerns which you or your caregiver may have.

*When deemed necessary, you may be scheduled for a visit to the hospital to further manage your condition.

What are the risks and limitations of a video consultation?

  • As your clinical care team will not be able to examine you physically or take your vital signs during the video consultation, they are dependent on you to provide true, accurate, current and complete information about your condition.
  • If you do not provide a sufficiently comprehensive report of your condition, there is a risk that your condition may be assessed and managed incorrectly.
  • If you feel that video consultation is inadequate to address your medical condition, you have the right to terminate the video consultation at any time, and arrange for an in-person clinic visit.

What are my options?

This is an optional service available for you. If you do not wish to participate in video consultations, you may choose to continue with in-person consultations with your clinical care team at NCCS.

If you are acutely unwell, do not wait for a video consultation. Please proceed to your nearest polyclinic, GP clinic or Emergency Department.
