Helping Our Patients

NCCS helps over 26,000 cancer patients each year. From the moment they are diagnosed and throughout their treatment we are with them, providing the very best care, by the best people, in the best place.

Funding our patients and programmes

The NCCS Cancer Fund supports programmes that have been developed to improve and advance patient care. These include:

  • Financial assistance for patients in need. Through the fund we distribute grants to help with medical investigations and treatments, and support services to help patients cope with a diagnosis and treatment.
  • Educational programmes and publications, including workshops and informational materials for patients and caregivers. We also run roadshows and awareness activities, reaching over 100,000 people each year. Both our printed and online cancer publications are complimentary for anyone who needs them.
  • Education and training for medical, nursing and paramedical professionals. We cover a full range of cancer-related subjects including cancer prevention and treatment, in order to help raise awareness and improve patient care.
  • Enhanced patient care through improved facilities, equipment and infrastructure. From year 2016 to date, volunteers have knitted and distributed more than 3,000 hats to help protect the scalps of patients in air-conditioned rooms and to help them look and feel better. Over 1,000 pairs of knitted breast prostheses were also given out to benefit our patients who had breast removal surgery.
  • NCCS’ Cancer Helpline, which responds to over 4,500 enquiries per year. Our trained Nurse Counsellors lend a listening ear, providing information and support that help both patients and their caregivers cope with the uncertainties of their cancer journey.
