A Sweet Way to Raise Funds

Bubble tea lovers now have a better reason to get their regular fix. Bubble tea store, Playmade, is donating partial proceeds from the sale of their bubble tea and merchandise to support the cancer cause at the National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS)!

The Taiwanese bubble tea brand targets to raise $40,000 through their fundraising campaign “Boba with Love”, which will be held from 9 December 2020 to 28 February 2021. The money will aid cancer research and patient care programmes at the NCCS.

While it is the first time Playmade is fundraising for a cancer cause, they have been donating to local charities to support various causes. For them, cancer is something that hits close to home as cancer incidence in Singapore continues to rise and affect many lives.

“Giving is powerful as it can create a ripple effect and inspire others in the community to do the same. Through the campaign, we hope to engage the community by spreading awareness of cancer and encourage giving. At the same time, we hope to cultivate a spirit of giving in our employees, said Ms Amanda Poo-Shang, Director of Playmade.

“The name ‘Playmade’ was derived from the Chinese word丸 which means ‘pearl’. It has the same pronunciation as the Chinese word for ‘play’, which represents our aim to always innovate and bring on playfully created flavours. Those who wish to support the cancer cause and are up for something different can try the new Peach Tea with cheese foam, which will be introduced during the Christmas period,” added Ms Poo-Shang.

Partial proceeds from every cup of bubble tea (M/L) sold in-stores will go to the NCCS Cancer Fund during the following campaign periods:

  • $1.00 will be donated for every bubble tea sold between 9 to 20 December 2020:
  • $0.10 will be donated for every bubble tea sold between 21 December 2020 to 28 February 2021
