Professional Development

Continuing Medical Education

NCCS provides continuing medical education (CME) to doctors and specialists so that they remain updated on the latest developments in the field of oncology. Most of our CME programs are opened to NCCS staff as well as general practitioners and medical professionals from other institutions and specialisations.

Our CME programmes include workshops, talks and symposia to cater to the learning needs of each doctor. The timing and duration of our programmes are made flexible to ensure minimal disruption to a doctor’s busy work schedule. Both local and foreign experts teach in our programmes to ensure a consistently high quality of programme delivery.

Nursing

Continuing education allows nurses to keep up with advances and changes, both in general and oncology nursing practice to incorporate into the delivery of care.

Conferences and Seminars

Besides hosting the second Regional Oncology nursing Conference “New Frontiers: Making a Difference” in May 2002, we have co-hosted with ISNCC (International Society of Nurses in Cancer Centre) the 15th ICCN (International Conference on Cancer Nursing) in 2008, the 3rd Regional and 4th Regional Oncology Nursing Conference in 2013 and 2019 respectively.

Attachments and Visits

We provide opportunities to both foreign and local nurses from other hospitals for practical attachment and training. Nurses could share their findings, insights, experience, and advice. Attachments will be customised to fit the objectives of the nurses requesting for the attachments.

WHO Fellowships

We collaborate with WHO in the provision of fellowships. Through these, international and regional nurses can be attached to the Centre.

Pharmacy

The Pharmacy department provides various training programs for pre-registration pharmacists, pharmacy students and residents of the National University of Singapore (NUS) Oncology Residency Program.
