Primary Care Oncology Education Unit (PCOEU)

Synonym(s):

The Primary Care Oncology Education Unit (PCOEU) is aimed at integrating the role of Primary Care Practitioners (PCPs) in the Cancer Care Network and empowering them with information and tools to manage a wide range of complex, cancer-related conditions. In addition to increasing engagement with PCPs and sharing clinical practice guidelines, the goal is also to raise awareness of available psychosocial support and patient support group programmes for patients with cancer. In line with the national Healthier SG initiative, the goal is to optimise training and build partnerships with PCPs and community providers to improve cancer survivorship in the community.

PCOEU collaborates with SPriNT (Singapore Primary Care Cancer NeTwork), to co-organise the annual Primary Care Cancer Learning Series.

As part of efforts to raise awareness on integrative oncology, NCCS hosted the Transforming Cancer Care with Integrative Oncology Symposium. The event brought together clinicians, researchers, allied health professionals and TCM practitioners to hear from experts on the latest in integrative oncology.

A key highlight was a plenary lecture delivered by Dr Gary Deng, a pioneering expert in integrative medicine and the founding Medical Director of Integrative Medicine at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK).
