Clin Asst Prof Victoria Wong Hwei May

Dr Victoria Wong is a Consultant in the Division of Supportive and Palliative Care at the National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS). She previously served as the Palliative Care Lead at Sengkang General Hospital and currently co-leads the development of palliative care services for the future Eastern General Hospital.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the National University of Singapore and a medical degree from the University of Sydney, where she completed her internship at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney. Upon returning to Singapore, she trained in Singapore General Hospital, subsequently obtained a Graduate Diploma in Family Medicine and Master of Medicine (Family Medicine), before attaining specialist accreditation in Palliative Medicine. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Patient Safety and Healthcare Quality.

Nationally, Dr Wong chairs the National Guidelines for Palliative Care Subcommittee under the Singapore Hospice Council. Within SingHealth Duke-NUS Supportive and Palliative Care Centre (SDSPCC) she leads the Value-Driven Care and Palliative Care Outcome Collaboration (PCOC) workgroups. She also leads supportive and palliative care in the Adolescents and Young Adults Oncology (AYAO) Program.

Dr Wong is also a faculty member of the College of Family Physician Singapore’s Family Medicine College Program and Family Medicine Foundation. She is also a core faculty member of the Ethics Continuing Medical Education Program under the College of Family Physicians.

She was awarded the FY23 HMDP Team-Based Award to the United Kingdom to study the integrated ecosystems of proactive care and community engagement in palliative care. Her professional interests include the integration of palliative care into primary care, community-based care models, healthcare quality and patient safety, value-driven healthcare, and improving support and awareness for adolescents and young adults living with life-limiting illnesses.
