Dr Tan is a Senior Consultant at The National Cancer Centre Singapore’s Division of Radiation Oncology. He is a graduate from the National University of Singapore and a Fellow of the Royal College of radiologist and a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine Singapore. Besides his local training, his clinical experience also comes from having had fellowships at the Mt Vernon Cancer Centre (UK), the Dr Daniel den Hoed Cancer Centre (Rotterdam), and the Gustav Roussy Institute (Paris).
Dr Tan’s subspecialty interests are in Head & Neck and Uro- Oncology. He co-chair’s two of NCCS’ Cancer Service Line Development groups (Head & Neck, and Urology), and he is a Visiting Consultant to the Urology Departments in Singapore General Hospital and Changi General Hospital.
Dr Tan is involved in clinical trials in Head & Neck, and in particular, Nasopharyngeal Cancers. Together with colleagues from the SGH Urology department, he pioneered the practice of Low Dose Rate Brachytherapy for Prostate Cancer in Singapore. High Dose Rate Brachytherapy for Prostate Cancer has since been added to the armamentarium of treatment options.
Dr Tan is a Clinical Lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and also teaches at the Nanyang Polytechnic. He is a member of the Radiation Oncology Residents Advisory Committee, and a member of the SingHealth Practice Based Learning and Improvement Standing Committee.
Dr Tan concurrently holds the appointments: Head of Medical Affairs and also Chief Quality Officer in NCCS in which capacity he oversees quality and safety, service quality, risk management, licensing, credentialing and privileging.
