Dr. Soong is a radiation oncologist, specializing in the treatment of head and neck cancers, gynecological cancers, skin cancers, and palliative radiotherapy. He serves as the Deputy Chairman and Senior Consultant in the Division of Radiation Oncology at NCCS.
Dr. Soong earned his medical degree (MBBS) from the University of Melbourne in 2000. He is a Fellow of both the Royal College of Radiologists (UK) and the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. In 2006, he was awarded the SingHealth Health Manpower Development Programme Award, which enabled him to undergo further training at University College London Hospital.
Dr. Soong is involved in research, with a focus on nasopharyngeal carcinoma and cancer survivorship. He has contributed to numerous international guidelines and publications on radiation therapy for head and neck cancers. Notably, he also played a pivotal role in establishing the proton therapy centre at NCCS, leading the education and training efforts for its implementation.
Committed to patient care beyond clinical treatment, Dr. Soong has been the medical advisor for the Nasopharyngeal Cancer Support Group at NCCS since 2009. He emphasizes the importance of cancer survivorship and works to facilitate the transition of patients from hospital care to community support systems.
