Experimental Therapeutics Clinical Fellowship

Objectives of training: 
  • To learn the key principles in evaluating and managing patients on phase I trials. 
  • To learn and understand the principles of drug development and precision oncology. 
  • To learn and understand the proper conduction and interpretation of clinical research. 
  • To participate in the education of other physicians, staff, and support personnel by preparing and presenting didactic lectures on topics in Hematology/Medical Oncology. 
  • To understand the psycho-social issues involved in the care of cancer patients and to display compassion for patients and family members. 
Eligibility: 
  • MBBS 
  • Proficient in English 
  • Inclination towards translational research is preferred
  • Completed basic training in Internal Medicine and/or achieved a MRCP or local country equivalent. Candidates who are enrolled in a medical oncology training program would be preferred 
  • Registered doctor in home country with good standing
  • Must not be out of clinical practice for more than 3 years 
Training: 
Clinical Work 
  • Counsel and attend to the patients enrolled in the phase I trials (all tumor types) 
  • Participate in all activities related to the dedicated phase I unit, e.g. patient review meetings, teleconferences and molecular tumor boards 
  • Option to participate in tumor-specific clinics and ward rounds for enhanced understanding of existing standards of care 

Research & Teaching
  • Fellow will be trained in all aspects of early phase clinical trial management, including GCP, protocol development, administrative aspects and regular interactions with regional and international investigators and pharmaceutical companies. 
  • Participation in Tumor Boards (Type and frequency) 

*Trainees will be required to attend the molecular tumor boards and other relevant ones during their rotation plan.
