Sim Yirong, Lester Leong Encysted papillary carcinoma of the breast: an institutional case series and literature review Abstract Disclosures Introduction: Encapsulated papillary carcinoma of the breast (EPC) is a rare entity type of papillary breast cancer neoplasm accounting for 0.5-1% of all breast cancers. It is a well- circumscribed malignant papillary carcinoma nodule mass surrounded by thick fibrous capsule, and typically presents in postmenopausal woman between 55 and 67 years old. It is generally considered as a low risk cancer, with a 5% local recurrence risk and an overall favourable prognosis. Although often managed as an in-situ disease because of its indolent clinical behaviour, EPCs uniquely express a pattern of invasion- associated markers between DCIS and invasive breast cancer (IBC). There have also been several reported cases of its association with invasive cancer and metastasis. Aim: The aim of our study is to retrospectively study the characteristics and outcome of EPCs in our local institution, as well as to study the three main subtypes within EPCs: EPC alone (pure form EPC), EPC with ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), and EPC with invasive carcinoma. We aim to also study and correlate clinical presentation and radiological features. Joint Breast Cancer Registry Singapore
