Profile

Dr Reuben Foo obtained his Medical Degree from the National University of Singapore in 2012 and underwent Ophthalmology residency training at the Singapore National Eye Centre. He served as the Lead Resident of the SingHealth Ophthalmology Residency Programme in 2019 and was the Vice-Chair of the Students’ and Residents’ Relations Sub-Committee from 2016 to 2018. He obtained his postgraduate MMed(Ophth) qualification in 2017 and his specialist accreditation in 2020. He has completed a combined Neuro-Ophthalmology and Glaucoma fellowship training in SNEC in 2022 and is serving currently as a Consultant in both departments. He has a particular interest in managing conditions related to the optic nerve.

Dr Foo has also shown a keen interest in medical education and strongly believes in nurturing the next generation of doctors. He participates actively in the teaching Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine students and enjoys helping them hone their clinical knowledge and skills. He was the supervising faculty for the recipient of the Singhealth Medical Student Talent Development Award in 2022. He is also involved in the teaching of Duke-NUS graduate medical students and often has students attached to his clinic. As recognition of his teaching efforts, he was awarded the prestigious Dean’s Visit Award for Junior Doctors by the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine in 2019. Dr Foo is also a tutor for the Graduate Certificate in Ophthalmic Nursing Course and Graduate Diploma for Ophthalmic Technicians Course.
