Frequently Asked Questions

A. APPOINTMENTS AT THE NEW NCCS

  1. Will I be informed of my next doctor and/or treatment appointments in the new NCCS building?

Yes, patients will be informed of their new appointment time, dates and clinic locations in the new NCCS building via phone call, letter, Health Buddy Push Notifications or SMS.

  2. Will the move to the new NCCS and changes to my appointment dates affect my treatment?

No, care has been taken to minimise disruption to ensure that our patients’ care and safety is not compromised. Your treatment will not be affected as your treating doctors have been consulted prior to any changes to your appointment dates.

  3. Who can I contact if I experience any treatment-related side effects before my next appointment in the new NCCS?

If you experience any treatment-related side effects from your cancer treatment before your appointment, please contact NCCS Call Centre at 6436 8000 who will arrange for your treating doctor to contact you. If you experience serious symptoms such as shortness of breath or chest pain, please visit the nearest hospital’s emergency medicine department for urgent care.

  4. Who can I contact for enquiries about my appointments?

Please contact NCCS Appointment Scheduling at 6436 8088 for any enquiries.

B. BLOOD TEST APPOINTMENTS

  1. Why do I need an appointment for my blood test?

Making an appointment for your blood test allows you to view your lab test appointment details on the Health Buddy Mobile App/Appointment List. This can help you manage your time and plan your day more efficiently. It will also allow us to send you a reminder about your blood test.

  2. Where do I go for my blood test appointments in the new NCCS building?

Patients scheduled for consultation with the doctor and/or chemo appointments should go to Level 10 via Lift Lobby B for their blood test appointments in the new NCCS building. Patients should adhere to their blood test appointment date and scheduled time to avoid any delay to their consultation with the doctor and/or chemo appointments.

  3. Can my blood test be scheduled on the same day as my doctor and/or chemo appointment?

Depending on the type of blood test that has been ordered for you, your blood test results will only be ready approximately 3 hours after it has been administered. However, your chemo treatment may not be done on the same day should the medical team require more time to review your blood test results.

We recommend for your blood test appointment to be scheduled one day before your doctor and/or chemo appointment as this will allow our medical team to review your blood test results earlier and inform you of any changes to your treatment plan.

  4. I am unable to go for my blood test appointment. Can I reschedule the appointment to another day?

If you need to reschedule/cancel your blood test appointment, please call the NCCS Appointment Scheduling at 6436 8088 for assistance.

  5. Can I walk in for my blood test without an appointment?

If you do not have an appointment, you will need to register at the walk-in registration Self Service Station (SSS) at Level 10 in the new NCCS building to obtain a queue number for your blood test. However, as we have a set number of slots for blood tests each day, priority will be given to patients with an appointment.

C. MEDICATION

  1. My appointment has been rescheduled, but my medication is not enough to last till my rescheduled appointment. What should I do?

Please contact the NCCS Call Centre at 6436 8000 for assistance and give the call centre staff your contact number. Our staff will check with your treating doctor and call you back to advise on suitable arrangements.

  2. How long does it take for medication delivery? When will my medication be delivered?

Please call the pharmacy at 6243 7232 / 6243 7234 to request for medication delivery, at least 7 working days before your desired delivery date. If you have your prescription with you and need a prescription top-up, please call NCCS Call Centre at 6436 8000 for assistance.

  3. Is pharmacy service available in the new NCCS building?

Yes, the outpatient pharmacy is located on Level 2 in the new building.

E. ACCOMPANYING PERSONS/CAREGIVERS

  1. Can I accompany a patient to the Ambulatory Treatment Unit (ATU) for their chemo session?

The Ambulatory Treatment Unit is a high-risk area as patients receiving chemotherapy treatment are immunocompromised and more vulnerable to infections. To protect this group of patients, only one accompanying person is allowed in the Ambulatory Treatment Unit waiting area at NCCS.

  2. How many accompanying persons are allowed at the SOCs?

For the comfort and safety of our patients, and to avoid overcrowding, only one accompanying person is allowed in the SOCs. Children below 12 years old are not allowed into NCCS. Patients and accompanying persons should keep their masks on at all times while at NCCS. We seek your continued cooperation to remain socially responsible to keep our patients safe.
