About Jeans For Genes

What is Jeans For Genes?

Jeans For Genes is an international campaign to raise awareness for hereditary conditions.

The campaign was first established in 1992 by the Chronic Granulomatous Disorder (CGD) Society in UK to fundraise for diverse group of hereditary conditions. Today, it is a national campaign established in countries around the world to fund revolutionary research that helps diagnose, advance understanding and find cures or treatments for various genetic conditions.

Jeans For Genes in Singapore

In Singapore, the National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS) launched this annual fundraising campaign on World DNA Day, 25 April 2019, in a bid to increase awareness for hereditary cancer as well as other hereditary conditions. We hope Singaporeans can support Jeans For Genes by wearing their favourite jeans/blue, make a donation and purchase Jeans For Genes merchandise to support our fight to prevent, and against cancer.

Funds raised will be used to support the work being done by the Cancer Genetics Service (CGS). Your support drives research, expands knowledge, and advances care for those with an increased risk of developing certain diseases such as cancer.

How this campaign helps in the battle against cancer

NCCS hopes this campaign will increase the awareness for hereditary cancer as well as other hereditary conditions where further research is needed. Cancer is often thought to be terminal and through awareness, we hope to enable the public to see that there is much that can be done to prevent, manage, and cure it.
