Welcome to the 11th Singapore Hyperbaric and Underwater Medicine Course (SHUMEC), jointly organized by the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) and Singapore General Hospital (SGH) The course will be conducted from 8 to 12 November 2021.
The RSN and SGH have been in partnership since 2008 to advance the knowledge and clinical practice of Underwater Medicine in Singapore This collaboration has brought together the Navy’s experience in Diving Medicine, and SGH’s expertise in Hyperbaric Medicine and multi-disciplinary patient management.
SHUMEC’s teaching faculty comprises Singapore’s leading practitioners in the field of Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine from the RSN, SGH and our key partners Participants will gain a strong foundation in the practice of Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine, and obtain the necessary knowledge to perform assessments for divers and workers involved in compressed air works.
Participants that complete the course may apply for registration as a Designated Workplace Doctor (Compressed Air Works) with the Ministry of Manpower (MOM).
We are confident that this course will equip you with essential knowledge in diving and hyperbaric medicine that will be useful in your clinical practice
