Clinical Fellowship / Training Attachments

As part of our efforts to promote cross-border knowledge exchange, NCCS offers two types of professional oncology training programmes for overseas medical doctors, namely Clinical Fellowships and Attachment programmes. These international liaison programmes provide oncologists and doctors in the region with a very good platform for exchange of ideas with their counterparts in Singapore.

Applicants may choose to train in any of the following departments: Medical Oncology, Surgery & Surgical Oncology, Palliative Medicine, Oncologic Imaging and Radiation Oncology. The English language will be the primary medium of instruction.

Type of Training Attachments

(A) Clinical Fellowships

  • Maximum 12-months
  • Hands-on training
  • Temporary medical registration with Singapore Medical Council (SMC) required
  • Malpractice indemnity cover from the Malpractice Protection Society (MPS) required
  • Certificate of Participation awarded upon successful completion
  • Administrative fee of S$160.50 (inclusive of GST)

Eligibility:

  • Basic medical degree (MBBS or equivalent)
  • Completed 12-months housemanship/ internship postings
  • Must be registered with medical council, ministry or relevant licensing authority for practicing medicine in home country
  • Must be eligible for Singapore Medical Council (SMC) Temporary Medical registration
  • Proven proficiency in English. Must meet SMC’s requirement if medium of instruction for basic medical degree is NOT English
  • Possess 3 years of post-housemanship working experience OR postgraduate diploma or degree
  • Must be eligible for Training Employment Pass and Visa from Ministry of Manpower, Singapore
  • The eligible criteria and requirements of individual departments

Intakes: Throughout the year (Applications must be submitted at least 6 months before commencement date).

(B) Clinical Observership

  • Maximum six months
  • Hands-off training
  • Temporary medical registration with Singapore Medical Council (SMC) required
  • Malpractice indemnity cover from the Malpractice Protection Society (MPS) required
  • Certificate of Participation awarded upon successful completion
  • Administrative fee of S$160.50(inclusive of GST)

Eligibility:

  • Basic medical degree (MBBS or equivalent)
  • Completed 12-months housemanship/ internship postings
  • Must be registered with medical council, ministry or relevant licensing authority for practicing medicine in home country
  • Must be eligible for Singapore Medical Council (SMC) Temporary Medical registration
  • Must be eligible for Training Employment Pass and Visa from Ministry of Manpower, Singapore
  • Meet the eligible criteria and requirements of individual departments

Intakes: April and October (Applications to be made at least 6-months before commencement date)

(C) “Hands-off” Observership and short attachments

  • Maximum 28 days
  • Hands-off training
  • Self-funded
  • Letter of confirmation of training may be issued by department (upon request)

Eligibility:

  • Basic medical degree (MBBS or equivalent)
  • Completed 12-months housemanship/ internship postings
  • Must be registered with medical council, ministry or relevant licensing authority for practicing medicine in home country
  • 2 letters of recommendation
  • Service testimonial from current employer
  • Meet individual department’s eligibility criteria and requirements
