3. SUPPORT GROUP PROGRAMS – NCC’s Holistic Approach to Cancer Care

These programs provide patients and their caregivers an opportunity to relate with others in similar situations, learn coping skills, build friendship, share experiences, reflect and grow. Sessions are led by Medical Social Workers experienced in these fields.
a. a. Breaking the Silence

Date: 18 Sept (Sat)
Time: 2pm to 4pm
Closing date for registration: 16 Sept (Thurs)

Patients and their loved ones sometimes protect each other from knowing the truth about the illness. For some, their difficulties lie in not knowing what to say nor who to say it to. Breaking the silence also concerns patients who have kept secrets revolving around hurt, anger and despair, about expectations, about the fear of suffering, and about living.

b. When Caring Doesn’t Help Anymore
(For Care-givers & Family Members)

Date: 24 Sept (Fri)
Time: 6.30pm to 8.30pm
Closing date for registration: 22 Sept (Wed)

Caring can appear to be controlling to some patients. For some others, no amount of care is enough. What does caring entail? Find out from other caregivers their own experiences of caring for someone with cancer.

c. c. A Different Look

Time: 2pm to 4pm

e. What Is This Feeling?

Date: 20 Nov (Sat)
Time: 2pm to 4pm
