Armstrong won his sixth Tour de France cycling title recently. It
is hard to imagine that eight years ago, he was battling for his
life when he was treated for testicular cancer with chemotherapy.
There are many cancer survivors today and we highlight some of the
thoughts for finding strength in Survivor's World. We also highlight
in our focus, issues related to side effects and treatment for head
and neck cancers as well as screening for nasopharyngeal cancer.
Lung cancer as well as head and
neck cancers are related to tobacco smoking. Helping people quit
smoking can yield significant health and economic benefits. Although
an estimated 70% of smokers want to quit, only a minority (2.5%
per year) succeed in quitting permanently. We review some strategies
for smoking cessation in Pillbox. Do encourage your friends or relatives
when they are trying to quit smoking - your effort will go a long
way.
