Cancer Survivorship: Going Beyond Tumours and Treatment

With advances in modern oncology, diagnosis of cancer is no longer a dreaded death sentence. Cancer survivorship i.e. living beyond diagnosis and treatment of cancer, is now a reality.

Today, oncologists at NCC are going beyond shrinking tumours and prolonging the life-span of cancer patients, our team of professionals are also striving to provide meaningful extensions to both quantity and quality of life.

This is made possible through novel chemotherapeutics and pharmacologic interventions which not only battle cancer, but also minimize the side-effects of cancer treatment. In addition to providing medical assistance, we aim to minimize unnecessary stress that may affect cancer patients and their families. One such stress is their economic position. Hence, in this issue, you will find some useful guidance on how to return to the workforce. We also hope that you will be encouraged by real-life accounts of 2 cancer survivors on coping with their emotions in the face of their battle with active cancer. As for caregivers, you will find helpful tips on taking care of yourself while looking after your loved ones with cancer.

Cancer survivorship celebrates health and life! It salutes the courage of the survivors and the strength of their loved ones. Read on and join us in raising our glasses to these brave survivors.
