Nip - Neoplasm Interception Program™

The Beginning of the End of Cancer

The National Cancer Centre will be introducing a comprehensive cancer-screening program this December. To nip cancer in the bud through screening gives the best chance for cure. Hence, “Nip” (Neoplasm Interception Program) – the name of the program. It is unique because of its thorough cancer risk evaluation prior to the recommendation of a screening program that is specifically tailored to the individual’s risk profile.

A detailed medical and family history will be taken and analyzed during the initial check-up. The specialist will also do a thorough physical examination. Risk for major cancers will then be determined. High-risk individuals may require additional special screening tests and/or standard tests at increased frequency compared to those with average risk for cancer. As each individual is unique, we believe there is no “standard” package of tests. Based on risk profile, only screening tests that the individual requires, will be recommended.

These tests will include, but are not limited to, blood tests, x-rays, mammogram, ultrasound, CT scans, MRI, and endoscopy. These tests will be done over one and a half days within the National Cancer Centre. A detailed explanation of all test results and discussion for subsequent screening or any follow-up actions for abnormal tests will take place at the second visit.

Let’s “Nip” cancer in the bud…end it before it begins.
