How time flies! Half of 2007 have gone by in a blink of an eye. I was having a casual conversation with some friends over the weekend which led to each of us lamenting our fears of growing old, the accompanying aches, pains and the ailments that we may end up with.
The reality is the world is ageing. The need for specialist care for the elderly is becoming increasingly important. An ageing population with increased cancer incidence in the elderly imposes a greater disease burden with increased co-morbidities. NCC is in the process of starting a Geriatric Oncology Service as part of the centre’s drive to provide comprehensive cancer care.
In this newsletter, we focus on cancer issues our senior population may be concerned about. Find out how we can age gracefully and prevent chronic illnesses by just making dietary modifications and leading a healthier lifestyle.
In addition, we also talk about ways to manage treatment side effects elderly patients may experience. A senior survivor shares her experience with cancer and sends an encouraging note to those affected by it.

We are never too old to learn something new! Enjoy reading this issue of Tumorrow.
