3. Dancing in Aid of Cancer Research

More than 300 ballerinas, aged 6 to 60 will put their best foot forward in “Circle Of Life”, a bi-annual fundraiser organized and performed by Singapore’s foremost ballet school, Sylvia McCully School Of Dancing.

This year, the school has selected the NCC Research Fund (NCCRF) as the sole beneficiary for the year. “Cancer has touched many people in my life,” says Ms Sylvia McCully. “I am inspired by cancer survivors; by their zest for life and their spirit of triumph.”

Character artiste dancer Peter Tan who plays the Sorcerer in the concert, a connective character who links each segment, is himself a cancer survivor and has been involved with the school since 1978. Costume designer for “Circle Of Life” and NAFA fashion lecturer Debra De Cotta is also a cancer survivor, having removed a tumour in her brain.

“Circle Of Life” will be held on 19 and 20 December 2007 at 8pm at the Victoria Theatre and will be graced by Mr Michael Palmer, member of parliament.

To donate or sponsor a performance, or to purchase tickets, please contact Ms Chan at 6457 6995 or 9354 3163. Tickets are also available at the Sylvia McCully School Of Dancing, #03-21 Thomson Plaza. Tickets are priced at $15, $25, $35 and $50.

NCCRF was established to provide essential and strategic funding for an array of research and development programmes.
