About lesser known cancers

Editorial

Over last few years through the pages of Cancer Update, we have conveyed to our readers synopsis of major cancer types and new developments in the field of oncology. In this issue, we focus on some of the lesser known yet very important cancers. We cover cancers such as skin cancers, primary brain cancers, thyroid cancers, and sarcomas. As well as the supportive care issues which arise with their management.

These cancers are by no way uncommon as skin cancers are the seventh commonest male malignancy and thyroid cancers the ninth commonest female malignancy. The management of the cancers covered in this issue is distributed amongst a diverse set of doctors, who are not commonly associated as cancer doctors. Yet their contribution and the multidisciplinary approach to these cancers is of utmost importance in correct management of these cancers.

At NCC and in Outram campus we provide such multidisciplinary approach to these cancers. This issues comes from authors from such diverse backgrounds such as neurology, nuclear medicine, orthotics and prosthetics, surgeons etc. Health care professionals from various fields certainly face vexing issues such as neck lumps and skin abnormalities, hence I feel this issue will provide some thing for everyone. So Happy reading and Happy holidays from our editorial and production team of Cancer Update.
