Caring for you
every step of the way

Tung, Ho Chi Minh City
Vietnam

I’m writing to thank you for the assistance given when my mother Ms Lan who has tongue cancer came to the NCCS for consultations and examinations from 24/01/2007 to 02/02/2007, with special thanks to Ms Wang Shufen.

To be away from home when being ill for a lengthy period would be difficult for my mother, so initially our family was very concerned about how efficient we could be during our visit to the NCCS. Thankfully, we got all the support needed from Ms Wang Shufen. She has gone all her way out to help us organize and arrange appointments in an efficient way, which was beyond our expectation. More importantly, she gave my mother valuable moral support during the time we were there.

My mother’s cancer is a significant distress for herself and for my family. However, the excellent assistance and support from Shufen and the NCCS have given my mother great comfort and we really appreciate it.

Mr Phan, Vietnam, Hanoi

My sister was suspected suffering from breast cancer when we consulted the doctor in Hanoi. It so happen that I had a friend who was suffering from Stage 3 Stomach Cancer and he came to Singapore for surgery and treatment. When he was back to Vietnam, I heard from him very good comments about the doctors, nurses, technologies and equipment. Thus my family decided to bring my sister to Singapore for consultation and treatment.

My friend passed me the doctor’s contact who subsequently told me about Foreign Patient Service Department......

Thank you very much! Cam on nhieu!

Dr Tint Naing, Hong Kong

Dear everyone at Foreign Patient Service

Thank you very much for everything you did to help my mother’s treatment at NCC a successful endeavor. As I was busy working in Hong Kong, organizing medical care for my very old and ailing mother from Myanmar in Singapore was a monumental task for me. Initially I thought it was impossibility. But then I found out about your office.

Starting from the phone call I made for general enquiries all the way through to making & changing appointments, accommodation arrangement and assistance with visa matter, you had provided an exceptional assistance to my family.

I remember being very nervous about my mother’s arrival to Singapore for it was on a weekend and the people accompanying her had never been to Singapore. Sensing the anxiety, Shufen gave me her personal cell phone number and made herself available for any help should it require. At that moment, I instantly knew that my mother was in very caring hands in Singapore......

Philip Su, Myanmar

Dear all,

I first came to NCCS for treatment in 20 September 2001 and currently, I come for follow up treatment and check up every 6 months.

The services provided by Foreign Patient Service Department are very helpful. I appreciate the way they treat their patients. They are very kind and hospitable, especially treating foreign patients with great care. Whenever an appointment-booking enquiry is made, I receive a prompt reply, even though I am in another country. Whenever enquires are made, they provide me with very helpful answer.

Ms Carina Tan is very helpful, she will handle all appointment bookings for my wife and myself. When rescheduling of appointment is needed, she also provides me with good advice and coordinate it well, thus it is really convenient and helpful for someone like me who is not based in Singapore......

Mr Prasad, Nepal

It is difficult to believe that NCCS is a public institution, for it functions very efficiently and effectively, all the way from registration and scheduling of appointments to the final stage of one's treatment. I was especially impressed by the NCCS's Foreign Patient Service Office's (FPS) immediate response to my request for an appointment for my father with a senior doctor. Furthermore, the registration process was very simple and straightforward, unlike in many other hospitals that I have visited. All I needed to do was to take my father to NCCS. Upon our arrival at NCCS, we were met by a staff of FPS who was very courteous and helpful. The FPS staff was helpful to the extent that she welcomed telephone calls even after office hours for any help we needed. Once in the centre, FPS's services to us included constant follow-up and necessary interventions to ensure that our consultation and treatment processes were underway smoothly. FPS's services to us did not end at NCCS. The FPS staffs were also helpful in coordinating appointments that we needed with doctors in other medical centers in the SGH Outram Campus, for instance, the National Heart Center and the Haematology Department within SGH. In summary, FPS was almost like a family friend, and without its services, our visit to NCCS and SGH would not have been as smooth and pleasant.

Early this year, I accompanied my father who was suffering from Liver Cancer to the National Cancer Centre Singapore for treatment. We were then referred to the Foreign Patient Service Department.

“I was happy to have brought my dad to NCCS for treatment and the experience with the Foreign Patient Service staffs have been very pleasant. The staffs are attentive and detailed. My family was kept very well informed on all preparatory procedures before making our trip to Singapore so everything went on very smoothly upon arrival. All enquiries I had via phone and emails were promptly answered. In fact, I was really impressed and felt very appreciative as the Foreign Patient Service Officer was there to receive and greet us personally upon our arrival at the centre to ensure the whole family was well taken care of. This was something I did not expect. This personal touch really helped us a lot and reduced the anxiety we had at that moment. My father underwent liver surgery and was well resting at home now in Malaysia. I am more than happy with the services that Foreign Patient Service staff rendered to foreign patients like us.

Here, I would like to thank the Foreign Patient Service staff, especially Ms Wang Shufen for her kind and friendly assistance as well as taking good care of my family in NCCS.

FPS is really help. I have been receiving treatment at National Cancer Centre for 2½ years already, in between I also receive treatment for my HB at SGH, therefore I can really see that FPS has put in a lot of effort to help foreign patient. There are a few occasions where I need to rearrange my appointments. By contacting FPS, they will do the necessary for me so it’s really hassle-free and save me a lot of time. The FPS staffs are well trained, understanding and friendly. With the help of FPS, as a foreign patient, I feel more comfortable receiving treatment at the NCCS.

P. Singh, India

Dear Carina,

I am thankful for your kind help, which enabled us to come to Singapore and have proper guidance from Dr Pierce Chow and Dr Donald Poon for esophagus cancer treatment of my mother. In India, she was receiving chemotherapy but Dr Chow suggested chemo-radiation, which will definitely prolong her life. Cancer had deprived her of fundamental right to natural death but her remaining life will be painless and comfortable.

I sincerely thank Dr Poon, Dr Chow and Officer Carina Tan for their help and support. I believe their efforts will save hundreds of victims of their disease from painful and pre mature death.

Thanking you again.
