X’mas Movie Treat For Some 150 Needy Cancer Sufferers.
Monday, 27 November 2006

  • Treat is National Cancer Centre Singapore effort to bring festive joy to the patients as well as beneficiaries from Singapore Cancer Society.
  • Thanks to sponsorship from Shaw Foundation.

Singapore, 27 November 2006 - What better way to chase away the blues than to bring a group of needy cancer patients for an Christmas movie treat at Shaw Lido Classic cinema on Dec 2 (Saturday).

This movie treat, which has been made possible through the kind sponsorship of Shaw Foundation, is part of the effort to bring the year-end festive mood to these patients.

The invitees will watch the screening of Deck the Halls, a family comedy about one-upmanship, jealousy, clashing neighbours, home decorations and the holiday spirit. ‘Giving needy cancer sufferers a year-end treat is the National Cancer Centre Singapore’s (NCCS) way to encouraging the patients to look at the bright-side of life,’ said Ms Judy Seow, Medical Social Worker/ Counsellor from NCCS Department of Psychosocial Oncology.

“To be a cancer patient is not the end of life’s journey. We have to encourage the patient to focus on the future, look to the brighter side of life, and make each day matter,” added Ms Seow.

To add some spice to the show, everyone will be given a goody bag comprising of a drink and other stationery items and Christmas party set.
