Liver cancer is cancer of the liver. When the healthy cells in the liver are damaged, they can form liver cancer cells. These damaged cells do not work properly. They grow and produce more or themselves, which then form a tumor.

The liver is a good place for cancer cells to grow in because the blood that travels through can "feed" them well. Cancer cells grow very quickly and uncontrollably.

If the damaged cells do not grow, they die and will not harm the body. However, if a tumor does form, the person, therefore, has liver cancer.

A person with liver cancer will show no signs of cancer in the 1st few months. At most, he will feel pain at the upper right corner of his body.

When a person suffering from cancer feels pain, it could be because

1. the tumour is destroying normal tissue
2. the tumour is invading other parts
3. the tumour has broken through(ruptured) or bled

In more serious cancer cases, the skin and eyes may turn yellowish. This is known as jaundice .
