  • People around you may smoke for a number of reasons.
   
  • Young people tend to underestimate how addictive nicotine can get.

  • Peer pressure plays a big part as well. When
    we see friends smoking, we normally follow
    suit, as we do not want to be called a ‘chicken’.

  • We are all exposed to tobacco advertisements
    and promotions. In advertisements, tobacco users
    are portrayed as glamorous, popular, independent,
    adventurous, and macho. Thus, many people will
    want to give it a try.

The main reason as to why chain smokers cannot stop is –  

 Nicotine is addictive!

And that is also the reason why we are here to
tell you NOT to smoke.

 
  • Of 4 billion people today, almost 500 million will die of cigarette-related diseases, such as heart attack and lung cancer.

  • What a single puff of the cigarette can do to you is much more than what you think. Every puff contains over 4000 types of chemicals, which are harmful to us. 400 of them are poisonous and 40 of them are cancer causing!

  • Each year, smoking kills more people than AIDS, alcohol, drug abuse, car crashes, murders, suicides and fires.

  • Around half the teenagers smoke regularly will eventually be killed by tobacco. Half of these will die in middle age, 20 to 25 years of life would be lost.
 
 
  • Nicotine in cigarettes and cigars is addictive! You cannot quit as easily as you have taken them up!

  • Nicotine will tighten your blood vessels, which puts extra strain on your heart. Thus, your heart will have to work much harder than non-smokers'. This is what leads to heart problems such as heart attacks.
 
  • Smokers run slower and cannot run very far which affects athletic performance. Why waste your ability by smoking? Smoking won’t do you any good. Trust me.

  • Smokers experience shortness of breath about 3 times more often than non-smokers. You’re just making yourself more miserable by smoking.
 
 
  • Tobacco smoke will make your hair and clothes smell horrible.

  • EWWL!! Tobacco will stain teeth and causes bad breath.

  • Remember, cancers in the mouth caused by tobacco can lead to serious changes in the face. You will look haggard and listless. You will no longer be as pretty or handsome as you used to be.
 
 
  • Don’t even try smoking, it is more addictive than you think!

  • Don’t waste your money on cigarettes, your money is better spent on sweets, CDs, movies and clothes.

  • Be who you are and don’t be affected by others around you.

  • Follow your heart and do what you KNOW is right.

  • Help yourself and the others. You won’t want to find yourself regretting that you smoked half your life and money away.
