Foods to avoid

  • Fatty meats and other high-fat foods
  • Saturated fats are found in whole milk dairy products, red meat, palm and coconut oils. Saturated fats are related to obesity, increased risk of heart disease and cancer.
  • Smoked or processed meats, such as ham, sausages. Smoked foods absorb the tars that rise from the smoke or burning process. Tar contains numerous carcinogens.
  • Charcoal barbecued food and deep fried foods. There are evidence to show that charred meat and crispy fried foods contain a group of chemicals called Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAH) that increase cancer risk. These are cancer-causing chemicals that come from cooking food at high temperatures.
  • Salt-cured, salt-pickled, nitrite-cured or highly spiced foods such as salted fish, wax-duck, salted eggs, pickled and salted vegetables.
  • These foods have been linked to either colon and stomach cancer. It is best to remove them from your diet or consume much less of it.
