| Your
body is made up of trillions of cells that reproduce, grow, and mature
into different types of cells that do different jobs in the body.
There are nerve cells, muscle, blood cells, skin cells, and liver
cells like me! Groups of these different types of cells then come
together to form your organs (i.e. heart, lungs, liver and skin etc).
Each of your organs is made up of many different types of cells, that
work in co-operation with each other and each cell has a particular
function within that organ. For example, some of my friends who are
muscle cells, nerve cells and blood cells live and work together in
the heart. The muscle cells pump blood while the nerve cells conduct
the electrical signals that cause muscle cells to contract. |
