Light of Life
- an Inter-JC
Photography Competition -

In a bid to raise awareness for Cancer as well as to plough the minds of our creative youths, the NCC Foundation launched an inter-Junior College photography competition, themed as Light of Life. This is in conjunction with the CEIS event ‘Health in the Heartlands’.

In a lifetime, one is bound to meet with adversities. No matter the situation, there is always a silver lining, a glimmer of hope to inspire, to guide. Over the months of March till May, JC students were asked to capture their personal guiding lighthouses during times of darkness.

In total, 102 pieces of creative works were received. They were put through a rigorous evaluation process by our esteemed panel of judges – Mr Francis Leong (Senior Photographer, NCCS), Ms Jingle Chen (Executive Director, Anamics) and Mr Ejun Low (Creative Director,
Anamics). Kelvin Lee, of Victoria Junior College, emerged as the overall champion with his touching piece entitled, Papa. It was the subtle capture of his father’s silhouette and the tender message behind this piece that touched our judges’ hearts.

An award ceremony was held during Health in the Heartlands and was graced by Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports. To celebrate the extraordinary work sent in by the students, a photo exhibit was also put together.

The NCC Foundation would like to congratulate all winners and express our heartfelt thanks to all participants and supporters who in one way or another, contributed to the success of this event.
